We understand life has been challenging this year and we’re celebrating the “new-normal” and the remaining stimulus packages.

Here’s our summary digest on the highlights for where we are now:

  • This means 2020 Tax Time is here. Reach out for help to have your tax wrapped up.

  • Employers:

    • JobKeeper Etension 2 (January - March 2021 payments);
      Re-testing opens in January for Ext2 of the JobKeeper pmnts at reduced rates:
      Tier 1: $2,000/mth
      Tier 2: $1,300/mth

    • JobMaker incentive to hire a JobSeeker aged under 35;
      $100/week back for new hires aged 16-29 or $200/week for 30-35 year olds.

    • Cashflow Boost (until October 2020) credited against the BAS; and

    • Apprentice/Trainee Subsidy (extended to 31/03/2021).

  • Individuals:

  • HomeBuilder (and renovator) Grant (extended 31/03/2021).
    $25,000 until 31/12/2020 then $15,000 until 31/03/2021).

  • New Tax Deductions to consider:

    • Working from home (WFH)
      The ATO are giving an 80c/hour shortcut claim for your home running expenses while WFH until 31 December 2020. This may not give the highest deduction though, there are still other ways to claim home office use so we suggest keeping records of your WFM hours (diary or roster) and expense receipts (electricity, phone, internet, office supplies, devices) so we can work out the best claim at tax time.

    • COVID-19 Protection
      You may be able to claim hygiene gear, such as sanitiser, soap, face masks, gloves, etc if you worked in an occupation that requires physical contact or close proximity with customers during COVID-19, e.g. healthcare, hospitality or retail. Supplies to keep good hygiene during the pandemic at home or in the workplace is still deemed personal use but the community thanks you.

We'll continue to keep you updated here and on our socials.
